Frequently Asked Questions

  • Due to a large number of incoming referrals Paediatric HQ is currently waitlisted for new developmental referrals. We are managing a waitlist for new patients with the expected wait time of 18 months.

All GP referrals are triaged for suitability and if accepted are subject to waitlist times at the time of acceptance.

  • New patient appointment require a deposit to confirm appointments. Appointments with outstanding deposits 2 weeks before the scheduled date will be released and offered to our cancellation list.

From 14 October 2025, we’ll be welcoming families to our new home at:
14 Plaza Street, South Bunbury WA 6230

There’s parking available on site on the driveway or the street bays opposite 14-16 Plaza Street.

Our office is only open Monday, Tuesday and Fridays so if you have any questions or need to contact us or you can contact us via email admin@paediatrichq.com.au or 0475 862 209.

  • All referrals are triaged and reviewed by our team. You will receive an SMS asking for email details once your referral is received by our team. Please reply with your email as all further communication will be sent via email.

If the referral is accepted you will be asked to complete waitlist intake forms. Once your forms are received the referred patient will be added to the waitlist.

You are welcome to email to confirm receipt of your referral – please allow up to 2 weeks for our team to triage the referral.

  • If your appointment is related to developmental or behavioural concerns (ADHD or ASD) we suggest booking an appointment with a local psychologist for a cognitive or behavioural assessment and having this information available before your appointment.

You are not required to have completed these assessments prior to your appointment with the paediatrician, so please keep your paediatrician appointment regardless.

Psychology assessments can be used to better understand behaviours in children that meet criteria for ADHD and/or ASD and having this information available at your appointment may save you time and mean you require less follow up appointments.

We work closely with several psychologists in the South West and are happy to provide recommendations if required.

At Paediatric Head Quarters we use the Vanderbilt Questionnaire to assess behaviours. Parent and Teacher input is preferred.

If you have an appointment booked, please contact reception and request a copy of the questionnaires to be sent to you so you can complete it prior to coming in for an appointment.

If you already have completed these assessments and/or have a diagnosis from another paediatrician please email a copy of your assessments, reports and letters of diagnosis to be reviewed by the doctor prior to your appointment.

  • Paediatric HQ is a private billing practice, our fees are below the AMA recommended charge and accounts are required to be paid in full at the end of your consultation. New patient appointments require a $250 deposit and video/telehealth consults must be paid in full prior to the appointment.

Consultation fees depend on the type of appointment required, a maximum expected cost can be explained to you over the phone or via email by contacting our team.

Applicable Medicare rebates will be applied for the account or may need to be claimed by yourself directly from Medicare. To view our full schedule of fees, including Medicare rebates please visit our Fees and Payments page.

Private health insurance does not cover any of the appointment fees.

  • Appointment lengths can vary to meet your child’s unique needs. When you book, our team will let you know the expected duration—initial consultations typically range from 45 to 90 minutes, and certain ASD assessments can last up to two hours. Follow-up appointments are often shorter. If you have any questions or need more details, please feel free to contact our team via email admin@paediatrichq.com.au or phone 0475 862 209.

  • We aim to provide adequate notice for appointment times so that rescheduling is kept to a minimum. If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment time, we request you give us as much notice as possible to reschedule.

Due to the complexity and pre appointment preparation required for new patient appointments, we require at least 7 days notice to change or cancel the appointment. New patient appointments changed or cancelled without 7 days notice forfeit their deposit. Deposits are transferable and refundable only up to 7 days prior to the appointment date.

All review and follow up appointments are subject to cancellation fees if inadequate notice is given to cancel an appointment.

  • Absolutely. Collaboration is key to providing the best possible care. We regularly communicate with GPs, allied health providers, and other specialists to ensure a coordinated approach to your child’s health.
